Disney’s Art of Animation is a resort found at Walt Disney World, Orlando. It is located in the Wide World of Sports Resort Area and is very much a family orientated hotel. I love this hotel as it transports me back to my childhood with the character theming that is there.
LOCATION
Art of Animation is located in the Wide World of Sports Resort Area and is connected by a footbridge to Pop Century Resort. The park that Art of Animation is closest to is Hollywood Studios. If you’re planning on spending a lot of time at Hollywood Studios – particularly with Toy Story Land just opening – staying somewhere a little closer might be a good idea.
DINING
There are 3 different options for dining at Art of Animation…
- As with all Walt Disney World resorts, you can get pizza and other snacks delivered to your room.
- The Drop Off Pool Bar is located by the main Finding Nemo pool. Here you can get a selection of cocktails, beers or non-alcoholic drinks, as well as a small selection of snacks.
- There is also a food court located onsite – Landscape of flavours. It has a nice variety of quick food – all prepared food like pizza, burgers and salads. I love their different flavours of croissants! A good place for a quick snack, or even breakfast before hitting the parks!
THEMING
The theming of Art of Animation is well and truly it’s selling point – especially for my generation who grew up on its main movie selections. There are 4 different wings of the resort – each one themed after a particular movie; Finding Nemo, Cars, Lion King and The Little Mermaid.
Whilst Art of Animation is not my favourite resort, I can’t deny that it’s theming is second to none and will be the reason I go back again. Being able to walk and pose for pictures with your favourite character models and spotting all the hidden Easter Eggs around is a lot of fun!
I stayed in the Cars suite and area of the resort and it was amazing – the attention to detail were immaculate. The “Cozy Cone Pool” is set up to be like Sally’s Cozy Cone Hotel in the movie with the cones being individual cabanas to sit in. Then walking down the hallway to the room, the light shades were little cones.
Then in the room, literally everything was themed – the bathroom was the “Car Wash”, there were ads for all of the Radiator Springs companies everywhere and the coffee table had a map of Radiator Springs and the surrounds on it!
In and around the building block, you can also spot and have pictures with your favourite Cars characters…
You can also find the same set up in the Lion King area…
YOUR THOUGHTS
Have you stayed at Art of Animation before? Which wing did you stay in, and did you love it as much as I did?
