Out of all of the restaurants I’ve dined at in Walt Disney world, the Sci-Fi Diner is probably my favourite – and the only one I’ve visited everytime! In short, it’s so wonderful in every sense – food/drink, service and atmosphere, but I’ll get into all that further down…
In the way of food and drink, it’s your typical American fare – the type you’d get a the drive in, funnily enough! I had the Crispy Onion Rings for a starter – the Horseradish dipping sauce gives them a nice kick! For my main I had the Sci-Fi Speciality Burger. When I was there, it was an amazing Pulled Pork and Coleslaw on a Brioche Bun. My understanding is that it changes seasonally, but knowing Disney, they may bring back old specials – you never know! But the highlight was the boozy milkshake – did not need dessert with this! It was called the Orbiting Oreos – It’s their regular Oreo Shake with some Godiva Chocolate Liqueur mixed in. Absolutely heavenly!
The service was true Disney exceptional service and I’ve loved every cast member I’ve come across here. And they are an integral part of me coming back again.
And last, but not least – the atmosphere. Walking into the Sci-Fi diner feels like walking into another world. It’s themed as a 1950’s drive in theatre – it even has a big screen at the front showing Disney shorts! If you are determined to dine in a car, bookings are necessary and can be booked 180 days in advance. If not, there are picnic tables at the very back near the “concession stand”.
